Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to quotations, appointments & work provided by Ways of Water Plumbing & Heating Ltd., trading as WOW Leak Detection Plumbing & Heating. Any written quotation or job specific agreement takes priority where it expressly differs from these terms.
Quotations & pricing
Quotations are based on the information & access available at the time & are normally valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise. The scope & applicable price are agreed before work begins. Our fixed leak detection survey prices are £450 + VAT from 8am to 5pm, £550 + VAT from 5pm to 9pm & £650 + VAT from 9pm onwards. The fixed price leak detection survey does not become an hourly charge simply because the agreed investigation takes longer. The separately agreed arrangement for extremely slow heating leaks is explained below. Parking, congestion & travel within our coverage area are included. Any work outside the agreed scope is explained & priced before you authorise it.
Included in the fixed price leak detection survey
Pressure testing, tracer gas analysis, moisture meter testing, thermal imaging, acoustic detection, dye testing & borescope inspection are included in the fixed price leak detection survey where appropriate. The price covers the survey to locate the leak, with clear findings & a professional written report. Repair & reinstatement costs are separate.
What is not included
CCTV surveys of drainage pipes, power flushing & moling are charged separately. The price is agreed before work begins.
Repairs, materials, excavation, waste removal & reinstatement are separate from the survey. Any work outside the agreed investigation scope must be priced & authorised before it begins. Included survey equipment is not charged again as an extra.
Appointments & access
The customer must provide safe & reasonable access, disclose known hazards & ensure that an authorised adult is present where required. Abortive visits, late cancellations or missed appointments may be chargeable.
Payment
Payment is due on completion unless written credit terms have been agreed. Deposits or staged payments may be required for materials, specialist testing or larger works. We may suspend further work where payment is overdue.
Investigations & leak detection
Leak detection is an investigative service & cannot guarantee that every hidden, intermittent or very slow leak will be located during a single visit. Results may depend on system condition, pipe construction, accessibility & whether the leak is active. Further monitoring, isolation, access or staged testing may be recommended & quoted separately.
Extremely slow heating leaks: hourly investigation
For extremely slow heating leaks only, such as a system losing pressure over a week, longer monitoring or staged testing may be needed. If we determine this on site, we will agree the approach with you before proceeding: the applicable fixed survey fee will not be charged. Instead, the investigation will be charged at the leak detection rate of £100 per hour + VAT, excluding tracer gas analysis & the leak detection report. Any additional charges are agreed before proceeding. This may involve several short visits to isolate & pressure test sections over longer periods. A gradual pressure drop can involve only a small water loss, so more time may be needed to gather reliable evidence & locate the leak. No Find, No Fee applies to this hourly investigation as well as fixed price bundles, subject to the same eligibility conditions. We confirm how each visit will be charged before you authorise this approach; an unsuccessful fixed survey is not retrospectively changed to hourly billing without your agreement.
No Find, No Fee
No Find, No Fee applies to both fixed price leak detection bundles & hourly leak detection, subject to the conditions below.
For a genuine active leak within a qualifying fixed price or hourly investigation, if we cannot identify the source during the agreed investigation, you will not pay the investigation fee. Rising damp, condensation, building failures & other non leak causes are excluded because specialist testing & investigation time has still been completed.
The recommendation of a further visit does not by itself remove the No Find, No Fee promise for a qualifying fixed price or hourly investigation. Any separately scoped work & its price must be agreed before proceeding.
Hourly leak detection
Hourly leak detection is £100 per hour + VAT. Tracer gas analysis & the leak detection report are not included in this hourly price. Any additional charges are explained & agreed before proceeding. The hourly option & investigation scope are agreed before work begins. Choosing hourly investigation does not change what is included in a separately booked fixed survey.
Insurance reports
Reports record our observations & findings at the time of inspection. The decision to accept a report, authorise work or settle a claim rests with the relevant insurer or loss adjuster.
Workmanship guarantee
Qualifying workmanship is covered for 12 months from completion. The guarantee does not cover unrelated faults, misuse, accidental damage, pre existing defects, manufacturer failures, blockages caused after completion, customer supplied materials or work altered by others.
Liability
Nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Subject to that, we are not responsible for pre existing defects, concealed conditions, unavoidable investigative access, consequential losses, insurer decisions or delays outside our reasonable control.
